FIFA 17 Ultimate Team: The poor man's Premier League team

The Premier League is the most competitive football league in the world, and there is little doubt about it. On their day, any given team can win. While that is bad news for them, it’s quite the opposite for FIFA 17 players.

With such a high level of competition, there’s a large pool of players to pick up on the transfer market for cheap. Sure, you can go for the elite players, but for that, you better have a nice collection of coins ready to go. This is not something every FIFA player can take advantage of and depending on your platform, the prices can cause even more headaches.

So for your consideration, here is a Premier League Starting XI that will help you compete without breaking the bank.

Formation: 4-3-3 (3)

In honor of Jürgen Klopp and his pressing style of football, the 4-3-3 (3) will have you winning possession early and creating plenty of attacking opportunities.

ST: Andre Gray (Burnley) - 75

With 91 Pace, he’s one of the fastest strikers you can find in the Premier League. Gray will give you a great counter-attacking option and has well-rounded attacking stats to help you finish the majority of the chances he will get.

RW: Sadio Mané (Liverpool) - 79

Obviously, the 92 Pace stands out, but the 82 Dribbling doesn't hurt either. Did you see his goal against Arsenal on Matchday 1? Mané is more than capable of attacking from the right and getting into scoring spaces on a consistent basis.

LW: Theo Walcott (Arsenal) - 81

Did someone say pace? Theo is a top option on the left-wing and can easily cut in to make your opponents pay on the counter. Walcott also gives you the option to move him into the striker position if you find yourself with an injured/tired Gray.

CM: Gyfli Sigurdsson (Swansea City) - 82

Easily the best player at Swansea and a consistent performer in the Premier League. He might be one of the most underrated players in the league, but he hasn’t slipped under our radar. His stats (81 Shooting, 82 Passing, and 78 Dribbling) make him extremely well rounded. Adept at both scoring goals and crossing, he is also a master at set pieces.

CDM: Emre Can (Liverpool) - 80

One of the best young players in the league, he is a constant creator and hustler. Playing him on the right gives you chemistry with Mané, and you can easily use that relationship to quickly switch from defense to attack. His 82 Physical rating will allow you to win the battle in the middle against your opposition.

CDM: Granit Xhaka (Arsenal) - 84

The highest rated player in this side, Xhaka could be the difference maker. He can lob those long-balls to your pacy strikers, and his chemistry with Walcott will provide a similar combination on the left flank as the Liverpool duo on the right. Xhaka's defensive abilities will also allow you to snuff out attacks early.

RB: Kyle Walker (Tottenham) - 81

A top performer for Tottenham and England, Walker is a great deal for what he brings to the right-back position. Walker will give you a great overlapping option for Mané. His pace and physical play make him the second-best option, after a certain Spanish right-back from the other side of town.

CB: Gary Cahill (Chelsea) - 83

When it comes to the center-back position, consistency is essential. While in the real world you will not get that from Cahill, in FIFA 17 he is a great option. Cahill will also provide an attacking threat on set-pieces, thanks to his aerial ability.

CB: Eric Bailly (Manchester United) - 82

This season, Bailly was probably the best center-back before his injury. It’s nearly impossible to find a CB that has Bailly’s Pace (81) while maintaining a great Defense (82) and Physical (93) rating. To put it simply, he’s a beast.

LB: Patrick van Aanholt (Sunderland) - 75

What, a Sunderland player? With 88 Pace, van Aanholt is an absolute steal. The rest of his stats are also extremely well-rounded for a 75-rated card. He’ll give you a great attacking option from the left-back spot, a quality of utmost importance in modern football tactics. You aren’t getting the best defensive option, but with him, you can expect to win games by scoring more than your opponents.

GK: Asmir Begovic (Chelsea) - 83

He could be a starter on almost any other team, but Thibaut Courtois has him beat for now. Still, Begovic probably has the best goalkeeping stats of any backup and FIFA 16 rewarded him for solid performances while Courtois was injured. Begovic also has a knack for making those insane saves. After playing him, you’ll be thankful you didn't dish out coins for one of the elite goalkeepers.

With this Premier League side, you will be scoring goals and making your opponents chase shadows. Pace is key in this formation, and at this price you will be hard-pressed to make a more competitive side.
