FIFA 17 Career Mode: An Iron Dynasty - Episode Two

Hammers complete a mega transfer to bring in top flight striker to East London

Episode One Recap

In our first episode we discussed a few options moving forward for our Iron Dynasty. I put out some polls and the fans have spoken! With 55% of the audience in favor of the 3-4-3 we’re going to stick with it, for now! 90% of you all greed to sell Jonathan Calleri and we have added him to our transfer list. Finally, the top two polled centerbacks to start for West Ham United were, unsurprisingly, Winston Reid & Angelo Ogbonna. Though the race between Reece Oxford and Ogbonna is starting to get interesting. Reece is improving in training and Angelo should begin to fear for his first team looks.

Results

A reminder that we are playing under Legendary. I say that because we went 3-0 in our matches this week. A large part of that is due to our super signing in the closing hours of the transfer window. Hammers welcomed in a man who has been linked with West Ham United all season long. He also happens to be one of the most prolific and proven goal scorers in the Premier League. After much back and forth, Liverpool has agreed to a €50 million transfer fee for Daniel Sturridge. While Daniel didn’t find the back of the net, he did create many chances on the wing and managed to grab a few assists. Here’s how we did:

Lineup & Formation

Hammers finally welcomed back Andy Carroll after being injured all season long. I believed a nice pairing would be Sturridge out on the wing with Andy as the big target man in the middle, and boy was I right! The pair have worked well together giving Andy a hat trick and Daniel a few assists. I dropped Ayew down into an attacking winger as to back up Sturridge and his form continues to be stellar. We are sticking to the 3-4-3 for now as it is working well for the squad.

Youth and Prospects

We continue to focus on the younger core of our squad which includes Ashley Fletcher, Edimilson Fernandes, Manuel Lanzini, and Reece Oxford. I’m doing my best to rotate them into the squad to give the older gents a break every other match. Particularly Mark Noble, who seemingly needs every other match off.

Our youth academy is a bit empty but we do have one very solid prospect in Sam Griffiths. With a 61 overall and the potential of 81-94 (only at age 16) we could be looking at Reece Oxford’s future defensive partner. The plan is to start putting Griffiths to training once Lanzini’s chance creation ability increases a bit more.

Voting!

This week’s polls will center around the youth of our squad. After Angelo Ogbonna’s terrible performance against Arsenal at home, we must begin to question how much time Reece Oxford should see. I would like to also begin getting Edimilson Fernandes a bit more playing time in the place of Mark Noble. Lastly, we’re looking at right fullback to put onto the squad right now. Should be scouting for a fullback for the January transfer window?
