The latest installment of EA Sports’ “Ratings Refresh” is live, this time with LaLiga Santander players the recipient of the upgrades and downgrades. This follows the first three round of ratings adjustments from the Premier League, Serie A, and Ligue 1.
While none of the massive players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, or Luis Suarez were affected, there are some notable players who got an upgrade. Barcelona’s Gerard Pique is probably the highest profile player to get a bump as his rating goes from 86 to 87 and his Team of the Year card got a bump as well. Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco also got a nice increase from 82 to 84. A couple of very solid defensive midfielders, Casemiro and Steve N’Zonzi, both got a one point upgrade as well.
It wasn’t all positive as there were some downgrades too. Those unfortunate players include Barcelona defensive stalwart Javier Mascherano.
As per usual, the important caveats to keep in mind are those with respect to how special cards are impacted. Courtesy of EA:
Upgrades AND downgrades apply to new non-inform players found in packs. Non-IF players in your Club will not receive an upgrade or a downgrade.
If an upgraded player’s new OVR rating equals or surpasses his existing first in-form’s rating, his IFs will get an upgrade.
An exception is made for lower rated players with significant upgrades.
Does not apply to Movember or Ultimate Scream items.
If an upgraded player’s new OVR rating does not equal or surpass his existing in-form’s rating, his IFs will not get an upgrade.
However, if an upgraded player with an existing IF gets upgraded across Quality tiers (eg. Silver to Gold), his lower-quality IF will not get an upgrade. This preserves the in-form’s high value.
Downgrades to non-IF players will not affect their In-Forms or special items, should they have any.
