After a rather unfair snub of Messi in the TOTW last time out, this week looks set to be a lot lower profile, with no massive names of note. And with so few Premier League games on, we have a lot more players from lesser leagues, which could be a good thing for you if you like to experiment with more obscure players and leagues.
In terms of the big leagues, Inter Milan are the clear stand out team this week. With 5 goals in 17 minutes in the first half, they demolished Atalanta, running out 7-1 winners. Two of the big performers in that game were Mauro Icardi and Eder Banega who each took home a match ball for their hat-trick performance, with Banega also setting up two of the goals. Both players received an incredible 9/10 match rating from Gazzetta, with Banega edging the ‘Man of the Match’ award. On top of this, there is another IF for Napoli's dynamic attackers, with Lorenzo Insigne taking the headlines this week for his two-goal and MOTM performance in 3-0 win over Crotone.
Over in Spain, Barcelona seemed to be in a hangover from their midweek Champions League thriller against PSG and suffered a shock 2-1 loss away to a struggling Deportivo de La Coruña. As with most times when Barcelona or Real Madrid lose, it is mainly down to the opposition defense or goalkeeper having a great game, and this is no different. Germán Lux made an impressive four saves and received the joint best match rating from the game, so he should be a shoe-in for a spot in the TOTW.
Ligue 1's main representation comes in the form of Dimitri Payet, who bagged two assists in Marseille's 3-0 win over Angers. Lyon's Memphis Depay scored what could be the goal of the season in Ligue 1, but due to right back Christophe Jallet receiving the same match rating for his goal and assist, I believe that the Dutchman will be excluded in favour of his teammate.
With no real stand out performances in the German Bundesliga, the options are fairly limited. Felix Wiedwald should be one of those that makes it, after he made a last minute penalty save to earn Werder Bremen a much needed point in their 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen. His five other saves added to his excellent performance, which saw him given the Player of the Week award.
Elsewhere, we see a very nice IF for Nicolai Jørgensen for his three goals and two assists for Feyenoord, which saw him earn an extremely rare 9,0 match rating. New MLS outfit Atlanta United could earn their first IF in the form of Josef Martinez, whose hat-trick helped them to a 6-1 win over fellow newcomers Minnesota United. The Portuguese Primeira Division looks set to receive a couple of very nice IF's as well, with Bas Dost and Iuri Medeiros both likely to get an IF for their four goals and two goals one assist respectively.
Here is my complete prediction for TOTW 26, as shown on the Futhead Squad Builder. You can see my full prediction in more detail here, and make sure to follow me on Twitter as well for more updates about the TOTW and FIFA Mobile.
