After their first league title since the 1999/2000 season, Monaco boast an impressive 9 players in our projected Ligue 1 Team of the Season, while other top-of-the-table regulars such as PSG, Lyon and Marseille are also well represented. Whether EA decide to release the Ligue 1 and Calcio A TOTS at the same time, or separately, remains to be seen, but there will be no lack of good players available.
L'Equipe is used as the official source for Ligue 1. They published a list of the top 20 goalkeepers and outfield players, so most players have ratings. Those who do not were not on the list that was released.
All stats are taken from L'Equipe, Transfermarkt and WhoScored.
Danijel Subašić
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591795/fd9be1208dc07df337ca1c88180432f5.png)
Appearances: 31
Record: 9/12/10
L'Equipe Rating: 5,94
Clean Sheets: 11
Goals Conceded: 37
Saves: 84 - 2 penalty saves
The Croatian international had an excellent season. He kept the second most clean sheets in the league with 17, while also bringing much needed experience and maturity to the team, as one of just three regulars for Monaco who is aged 25 or older. His performances meant he won the Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Benjamin Mendy

Record: 19/4/2
L'Equipe Rating: 5,78
Goals: 0
Assists: 5
Clean Sheets: 12
Goals Conceded: 23
The youngest Monaco defender, but still one of their more experienced players. He isn't as attacking minded as Sidibé on the opposite side, but that doesn't mean he isn't as good or important. He has grown into a very good full back, and his performance have attracted the attention of a number of top Premier League clubs, in what looks like the start of a highly promising career.
Thiago Silva
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591763/8f2eed2e3e3393ac17ceaaa7b68a1c4e.png)
Appearances: 27
Record: 20/3/4
L'Equipe Rating: 5,89
Goals: 3
Assists: 2
Clean Sheets: 14
Goals Conceded: 20
He may be getting nearer to the end of his career, but the Brazilian certainly hasn't lost any of his quality. As always, Silva is expected to get a TOTS after a solid season for PSG in which they conceded the fewest goals for the fifth time in 6 seasons.
Kamil Glik
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591759/8e88df554ff7d72d7b00f470d5baa78d.png)
Appearances: 36
Record: 28/5/3
L'Equipe Rating: 5,78
Goals: 6
Assists: 2
Clean Sheets: 16
Goals Conceded: 29
Who would have thought that the Polish international would leave Torino last summer and become into arguably the best centerback in Ligue 1 this season? Kamil Glik has brought much needed maturity and experience to a very young squad. With 6 goals and 2 assists as well, he helps out in all areas of Monaco's game.
Ricardo Pereira
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591785/cad51bf322dbd7235e8e3c74b97c5b30.png)
Appearances: 24
Record: 15/7/2
L'Equipe Rating: 5,78
Goals: 2
Assists: 4
Clean Sheets: 8
Goals Conceded: 22
Pereira is another young Portugese full back who is excelling in Ligue 1 after Raphael Guerreiro. With Nice surpassing all expectations this season, their solid defence has gone fairly unnoticed due to Monaco's success, but also Balotelli being their focal point in attack. His excellent season sees him included in L'Equipe's TOTS, and therefore my prediction.
Thomas Lemar
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591491/f8f6dec7257e4541aa40e4e69b390c38.png)
Appearances: 34
Record: 26/5/3
L'Equipe Rating: 6,41
Goals: 9
Assists: 11
The 22 year-old French winger was one of the top assister in the league this season, as he played a key role in Monaco's title win, supplying Mbappe and Falcao, while also helping out defensively. He also holds the second highest average rating from L'Equipe, making him a certainty to be included in the TOTS.
Marco Verratti
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591689/3c2d098dd632d4f863aeb3823ebd0b8b.png)
Appearances: 28
Record: 21/4/3
L'Equipe Rating: 6,23
Goals: 3
Assists: 5
The Italian midfielder is certainly living up to his nickname of 'Gufetto' (Little Owl) with his incredible vision and ability to control a game. His incredible season has prompted many, including Spanish legend Xavi, to name him as one of the best central midfielders in the world, and a potential successor to Iniesta, with Barça amongst several clubs starting to be linked with the Italian.
Fabinho
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591691/2d9ce35d4f9ffa31af0acb928abcbc03.png)
Appearances: 37
Record: 29/5/3
L'Equipe Rating: 5,88
Goals: 9
Assists: 3
After turning down a move to Manchester United last summer. Fabinho has continued to excel in his holding midfield role for Monaco, playing a key, but often unnoticed role in linking their solid defense with incredible attack.
Florian Thauvin
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591493/1bad9de1627a647b70c2e571998a14fa.png)
Appearances: 38
Record: 17/11/10
L'Equipe Rating: n/a
Goals: 15
Assists: 9
Not many people would have predicted that Thauvin would have been as gold as he has been for Marseille. After flopping at Newcastle, he is Marseille's second top scorer and top assister this season and has been directly involved in no fewer than 24 goals, making him a certainty for TOTS, and probably making Newcastle a little more money if, as expected, he makes his move to Marseille permanent.
Edinson Cavani
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591409/8aa16d418cfa327a5bbad0788afa7a9a.png)
Appearances: 36
Record: 25/6/5
L'Equipe Rating: 5,86
Goals: 35
Assists: 4
Zlatan who? In his first season as first choice striker, Cavani has managed a goals-to-games ratio better than their former striker has ever managed with 49 goals in 48 games in all competitions. With 35 league goals, he is 9 clear the second highest scorer and guaranteed a spot in the TOTS.
Alexandre Lacazette
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591437/b44636e1252671fb2b213dc0d9177058.png)
Appearances: 30
Record: 16/2/12
L'Equipe Rating: 5,78
Goals: 28
Assists: 3
Lacazette seems set to leave Lyon for pastures new in the next couple of months, but he certainly gave Lyon fans the swan song performances they were hoping for. In what has been his best season yet, his 28 goals and 3 assists helped earn Lyon an extra 17 points which helped them qualify for the Europa League. All through the season, Laca was always in form, with his longest barren run being just two games.
Stéphane Ruffier
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591791/7882367aa0540dafdee843efc145cedc.png)
Appearances: 31
Record: 9/12/10
L'Equipe Rating: 5,94
Clean Sheets: 11
Goals Conceded: 37
Saves: 96 - 2 penalty saves
Unlike Subašić, I believe that Ruffier should be guaranteed a spot in the TOTS. He, along with Perrin, have been rocks at the back for Saint-Etienne. His performances have saved Saint-Etienne on numerous occasions, making him an excellent candidate for TOTS. If Subašić is left out, Ruffier should make the Starting XI, with Bordeaux's Carrasso or Pelé of Marseille making it in instead.
Loïc Perrin
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591765/583e2f83a195a8a4dffb3ffb9c34d9d8.png)
Appearances: 27
Record: 11/11/5
L'Equipe Rating: 5,80
Goals: 4
Assists: 2
Clean Sheets: 12
Goals Conceded: 24
At 31, Perrin may be moving nearer to the end of his career, but his performances and ability certainly weren't lacking this year. His importance to Saint-Etienne can be summed up in two lines:
With him: Played 27, Won 11, Drawn 11 Lost 5, Conceded 0.89 goals per game.
Without him: Played 11, Won 1, Drawn 3, Lost 7, Conceded 1.64 goals per game.
Dante
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591755/b43f8abe30976480fd193671e07d1258.png)
Appearances: 33
Record: 20/9/4
L'Equipe Rating: 5,82
Goals: 0
Assists: 3
Clean Sheets: 10
Goals Conceded: 32
Nice have build a pretty solid side in the past year, and with Balotelli being the obvious big name, Dante has gone fairly unnoticed this year. The ex-Bayern defender has been as solid as ever, helping Nice cruise to the top end of the table relatively quietly due to the battle taking place just above them for the title
Jean Michaël Seri
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591677/e258ff2fbea4fbfc63502da51eb5d6a0.png)
Appearances: 34
Record: 21/9/4
L'Equipe Rating: 6,09
Goals: 7
Assists: 9
The Ivory Coast seem to have a knack of producing high quality central midfielders and that seems set to continue with Seri. The 25 year old has been excellent for Nice, and a big money move shouldn't be too far away for him.
Bernardo Silva
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591495/6bfca74e54e12def8d1a8d389a722ce3.png)
Appearances: 37
Record: 29/5/3
L'Equipe Rating: 6,12
Goals: 8
Assists: 11
Silva is the first of Monaco's young squad to accept a big money move elsewhere, accepting an offer from Manchester City in the past few days. He missed just one game all season and earned himself a TOTS.
Radamel Falcao
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591715/c0b20710a1a1b40350959ed138eb42dd.png)
Appearances: 29
Record: 23/4/2
L'Equipe Rating: 5,86
Goals: 21
Assists: 5
After disappointing spells in England with Manchester United and then Chelsea, Colombia's highest ever international scorer has finally found form again at Monaco. With 21 goals, he finished as the 3rd top scorer, and has formed an excellent partnership with Mbappé.
Kylian Mbappé Lottin
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591421/f2a5f5674643b1a06a1f166451bbe0c3.png)
Appearances: 29
Record: 23/5/1
L'Equipe Rating: 6,88
Goals: 15
Assists: 11
What a talent the 18 year old is. In his first full season with the first team, he has 26 goals and 14 assists in 43 games - 15 and 11 in 29 domestically. With an incredible high-high average L'Equipe rating of 6,88, he definitely deserves a TOTS.
Djibril Sidibé
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591775/e66e81839507064fbee534c55086a440.png)
Appearances: 29
Record: 22/4/3
L'Equipe Rating: n/a
Goals: 2
Assists: 6
Clean Sheets: 13
Goals Conceded: 25
More than capable of playing on either side of defense, Sidibé has been excellent since joining from Lille last summer. With 2 goals and 6 assists, he is certainly not shy of getting forward, but his defensive ability is also excellent. His performances have made him a mainstay in the French national team set up, making 7 appearances this season.
Morgan Sanson
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591425/5404ae37d3006b5f944c0c008947875d.png)
Appearances: 37
Record: 15/13/9
L'Equipe Rating: 5,80
Goals: 4
Assists: 14
Having started the season at Montpellier, and then moved to Marseille, Sanson has been excellent. He is the top assister in the league with 14. His performances earned him a TOTS Most Consistent card, showing how good he has been in, and he fully deserves to be re-released in the league specific TOTS.
Corentin Tolisso
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591681/7fcb070a6712761366d371d27ca44d14.png)
Appearances: 31
Record: 16/3/12
L'Equipe Rating: n/a
Goals: 8
Assists: 5
Lyon's main man in midfield tends to go unnoticed at times, but he has become a key part of their team in the past couple of seasons. He may not get the most goals or assists, but his defensive performances have been just as, if not more important for a very attacking Lyon side.
Ryad Boudebouz
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591707/b3d5d0007cc82605edd34eae941e38c9.png)
Appearances: 33
Record: 9/7/17
L'Equipe Rating: 5,88
Goals: 11
Assists: 9
In a very tight battle at the bottom of the Ligue 1 table, Boudebouz proved the key influence that Montpellier needed to survive. Directly involved in 42% of their goals, he has come into his prime this year and thoroughly deserves a TOTS.
Loïs Diony
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591735/213a646c2b0353534106fb9832136845.png)
Appearances: 35
Record: 8/12/15
L'Equipe Rating: 5,81
Goals: 10
Assists: 8
Diony has quietly been helping Dijon round off a solid season in Ligue 1 after their promotion last year. With 10 goals and 8 assists, he has been directly involved in around 40% of their goals, as well as earning 16 extra points for his side. He managed to earn himself a substitute spot in the L'Equipe TOTS, as he was the 5th best striker in the league. A well deserved card.
Daily Knockout Tournament - Bafétimbi Gomis
:no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/8591731/efa447fdc7ac80755d5813c2d189d155.png)
Appearances: 31
Record: 14/9/8
L'Equipe rating: n/a
Goals: 20
Assists: 3
Gomis is another EPL flop who has excelled at Marseille this season. With 20 goals in the league, he finished 4th in the goalscoring charts — behind only Cavani, Lacazette and Falcao.
