FIFA 17 Ultimate Team’s Team of the Season (aka “TOTS”) is just about here.
While we wait for a tornado of blue cards, SBCs, and sweaty rage-inducing Daily Knockout tournaments, there’s another Team of the Week to navigate our way through.
What makes this one particularly interesting is that this will be the TOTW in packs when the first TOTS drops on Friday. The Teams of the Season Most Consistent Without an Inform aren’t going to include much in the way of high end horsepower — what’s up Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal and Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen — but it’s still blues we’re talking about. Coupled with a final six hours or so of the most recent Man of the Match cards and a decent Team of the Week, and there’s some extra incentive to pack party (TM our pals at FUTWIZ) it up come Friday evening (afternoon in the States).
Kicking things off, while Tottenham’s sleepwalk affair at West Ham has effective ended any excitement down the stretch in the world’s most popular league, a few performances around England have earned TOTW consideration.
Soton’s Fraser Forster had a penalty save to go along with seven other saves in a nil-nil draw, likely earning his first special card this FUT. Nicolas Otamendi has hardly been consistent for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, but his goal and aid in preserving a clean sheet in a stunningly dominate 5-0 win over Crystal Palace should do the trick. Otamendi’s City teammate Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne was a force of nature as he scored a goal and added a pair of assists in the demolition as well. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continues to acclimate to the wingback position, but he was in fine form for Arsenal as Arsene Wenger finally got past Jose Mourinho and his Manchester City, 2-0.
You’re going to hate seeing this one in Weekend League action, but Napoli’s Dries Mertens has one final claim before he gets his OP blue in around three or four weeks’ time. His two goals, assist and high match rating in a 3-1 Napoli win should earn him another black-and-gold in-form. Former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko had a two goal-one assist performance of his own in AS Roma’s 4-1 win.
Rounding out this group is one of the likely last non-Russian League or international competition Team of the Week Ones To Watch bumps we’ll see this FIFA. Alvaro Morata’s two goals in Madrid’s La Liga Santander title-chase necessary 4-0 win will help his black card retain a little value amidst this massive market crash. We predict if chosen he’s going up to 86-overall.
As always, the Futhead Squad Builder brings us visual representation for our side. You can check out the squad here, and make sure you follow us both — Darren and Luke, for all kinds of insight about TOTW, FIFA Mobile, and more.
